For this project, we first chose an event for which we wanted to redesign a logo and created a mood board for it. We then got a different person’s event and mood board, and had to design a logo that aligned with their mood board. Lastly, we received a logo and logo outlines that someone else designed, and had to design the branding for the event, including a postcard, an A-frame sign, and a T-shirt.
For the initial logo, the event I got was the Stonington Lobster Trap Tree. For this logo, I wanted to combine the lobster aspect of the event with the Holiday, Christmas aspect of it. I designed a lobster to go in the center of the logo, which included a subtle buoy shape as the body of the lobster. I went with a muted green and red for the color palette, to tie in the Holiday aspect.
For the second part of this project, I received a logo that one of my classmates designed for the Dominican Day Parade. For the branding of this event, I wanted to emphasize the Dominican culture. I created a pattern featuring a Dominican-style dress and hat, the Dominican flag, a Tambora, and a Dominican Rose.
